This is my car. My rear wheels look stupid being as thin as they are with so much fender around them. Must go wider.
My options are widened versions of the stock steelies or

. Now here's the kicker. I can't run Jackmans on the front because they won't fit in the fender. With either wheel option the fronts stay the same.
Here's a sideshot of the car to help you picture it:

Difference of opinion, here. I think it's the tire aspect ratio re: the style and size of wheel that makes it look goofy, not the wheel width. I think a bigger tire on the same rim or a smaller rim diameter + bigger tire would fix the visual problem much better.

It's kind of the charm of those cars, I like it like that

I just think the derpy rear fitment kills it when the fronts are so close to the fender.
I'm leaning Jackmans but I'm afraid that offroad wheels paired with offroad exhaust make it seem like I'm trying to make it a theme vehicle.

My wheels are so far away from my fenders though. :(

I'd definitely go for widened steelies if those are the only options. Have you thought about installing camber compensator?

I had one and took it off. I like the camber, just how it looks.

get some 356 steelies with hubcaps

Maybe, not sure if this car or the '60 I'm getting will get them, but one of my cars is getting 356 headrests. The '60 has Porsche Speedster wheels, chrome and staggered.

That sounds all kinds of cool

The '60 is so much cooler than the '67, just makes me sad I'm buying it like that.

First off awesome vw! Personally I like the way it looks and wouldn't change it but clearly thats not in the cards. Maybe some wheel stud spacers to push the wheels out and take up the gap your not a fan of and second think about matching the steelies to the white two tone theme.

I mean, I could get widened steelies with the same face as these wheels, they'd just have a more sunk face, kind of like these but with my holes:
And thanks for the compliment, just got the exhaust on this weekend after a lot of cutting:

Thats kick ass! Slammed and deep dish go together like peas and carrots so there's always that option.. In college my brother had a westfalia that we would wrench. Its previous hippy botched an engine swap and we could never get the bugs worked out..

I think I will go Jackmans, I was only apprehensive because they're offroad wheels, and I've got the offroad exhaust, and I don't wanna go overboard on the offroad shit.

Just space them out a bit. Don't worry about WIDE. It's a light car. It won't handle any better wide.
